Christy - Fitness Manager

Christy – Fitness Manager

My name is Christy and I am the Fitness Manager for Be Well Barn. I have been in the industry since 2011 and working as an instructor since 2015. I love to help people reach their own personal fitness goals and watch their growth in confidence through exercise. This is a personal highlight of mine and something I aim to see in all clients and members.

Part of my role at Be Well Barn will involve teaching fun, motivating and varied classes for you all to enjoy. Instructing group exercise is an absolute favourite of mine which I hold great passion for. I look forward to welcoming you into our friendly community.

After over 20 years working in primary education, I know the importance of physical and mental well-being enabling you to live your life to the fullest. This can take many forms; physical exercise, relaxation and engagement with the natural environment. I’m really excited to make this move to front of house at the Be Well Barn.

Angie – Fitness Instructor & Personal Trainer

After initially qualifying as a Personal Trainer, to gain knowledge to help myself and my friends, I discovered a passion for helping people enjoy being active and improving their health, fitness and overall wellbeing. So, after 20 years of caring for animals I decided to swap four legs for two and began working in a gym facility where over the past four years I have been helping people through their health and fitness journeys, instructing and personal training clients of all abilities with varied goals. 

Exercise together with an active, outdoor lifestyle, caring for the environment and enjoying the world we live in have always been an integral part of my life. I love climbing mountains, walking and challenging myself to achieve new things.

Rachel - Pilates Instructor

Rachel is a Special Neuro Physiotherapist with a passion for Pilates. Following completion of training with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute she is a certified Pilates Instructor and offers varied matwork sessions integrating small equipment and mindfulness for holistic wellbeing.

Lara Pilates Instructor

Lara – Pilates Instructor

After working in banking and commuting to London for a number of years, I decided I wanted to make a change and do something I enjoyed! I have always had an interest in health and decided to train as a Pilatesinstructor, studying with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI). I am also a qualified Nutritional Therapist (College of Naturopathic Medicine, London), and Sports Massage Therapist, and am passionate about looking after your body both physically and nutritionally. I have a particular interest in rehabilitative Pilates for those with previous injuries, and encourage anyone with an interest in improving their functional movement or posture to give it a go! I teach Pilates mat-work and Reformer classes, enabling clients to get the most from their classes.’

Andy – Tai Chi & Chi Gong Instructor

Andy had the privilege of completing all of his training on a one to one basis with Ken Johnson, head of the Liang Yi school of Tai Chi, and 8th Dan in Shito-ryu Karate. After training extensively for decades, Andy qualified to teach Tai Chi, Qi-gong, Karate and Kung Fu. His lineage for Tai Chi & Qi Gong is;

  • Yang Cheng Fu – considered the best known teacher of Yang-style Taijiquan
  • Yang Shou-Chung, eldest son of Yang Cheng Fu
  • Master AFC Kong who learned directly from Yang Shou-Chung
  • Master Ken Johnson, elevated to the Head of the Liang Yi school by Master AFC Kong
  • Andy Rees – Instructor Level Liang Yi School of Tai Ji Quan & Qigong

Healthy Core Strength & Authentic Yoga
Andy was fortunate to receive many years of private tuition from Master John Gent, the co-founder of the British Wheel of Yoga, and co-founder of Friends of Yoga. Master Gent is still the most senior examiner in Britain for training yoga teachers. Andy enjoyed access to a wealth of authentic information on Chinese, Indian and Tibetan yoga which are integrated into sessions, combined with a modern approach to stretching, core strength and stability training.

RBM Self Defence
Andy has trained a wide range of people from specialist military personnel in close quarters combat, to using this information to develop his own version of self-defence primarily focusing on how to understand and restrict the impact of stress on everyday life. Whilst most self-defence systems, both martial and military concentrate on how to defend yourself from physical threats, RBM instead shifts this focus onto how to change how you think about and respond to stressful situations in your life, because stress is a far more likely and occurring threat to your health. You will learn some ‘unique’ self defence information along the way to keep you safe, but this is just the tool, the method to illustrate how to become a solution based thinker rather than having anxiety and rumination in daily life.

Jen - Earthdance and Meditation Instructor

Jen – Earthdance & Meditation Instructor

Jen is a qualified Brown Belt Nia and Yoga teacher, teaching across Suffolk. She will be teaching Earthdance and EcoNIDRA meditation classes at Be Well Barn. Her style of movement takes its foundations from our natural world and movement from across the globe. S love to share the Nia experience and to see the benefits and reactions I get from students when they “step in” for the first time. It really is like nothing else.

Susie - Yoga Instructor

Susie – Yoga Instructor

Susie Wonfor holds a British Wheel of Yoga (NVQ Level 4) Teaching Diploma. Her passion for yoga began in her years living in East Africa, with her personal path of yoga flourishing into teaching. It’s Susie’s personal practice and study (svadhaya) that provides the basis of her teaching, which she considers a vital resource, as well as continued annual training.

She offers weekly classes to all levels of student, in a style which combines a traditional Hatha Yoga foundation with dynamic and sequenced asana (postures) and movement. The breath is integral to the yoga practice, in which you will also develop a deeper connection to your breath and breathing techniques to support this. Meditative spaces are included and we end each session with relaxation. Susie likes to explore specific postures more deeply, allowing you to confidently develop a home practice. The class caters for complete beginners, who work with a safe and foundational practice, whilst offering deeper and more advanced posture work to the more experienced. Susie very much welcomes both men and women to the class and has a mix of both men and women attending classes.

I’ve been a personal trainer working one-to-one with a range of clients for over five years. I believe in approaching fitness with a holistic and long term view to enable a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. My sessions blend weight training, cardio and mobility work to challenge the body in new ways that leave you feeling stronger, fitter and more supple.

Whether you’re looking to lose weight and improve your nutrition, recover from injury, or boost your performance, by listening to and understanding your aims we can establish your needs together and create a realistic plan to achieve your goals.

Sports Massage:
I’ve been practicing sports massage since June 2023, and have had the benefit of working with and learning from an experienced team of therapists since then.

Anyone can benefit from sports massage, whether you’re an athlete, a keep-fitter, or just feel tense and stressed, a treatment can help to release the build up of tension in the body.

Above all, it can help to treat and prevent those injuries that so often get in the way of life.

I have always had a keen interest in sport and health and fitness and since qualifying as a level 3 personal trainer in 2015 I have been privileged to see many individuals enhance their lives through exercise.

A certified nutrition coach and post natal fitness specialist, I have gained experience in various roles. From fast paced commercial gyms, personal training in a private studio to working on a residential weight loss retreat, this journey helped to shape who I am as a coach and identify which aspects of training I wished to specialise in.

My primary area of interest is weightlifting and I am passionate about coaching beginner lifters and introducing them to the benefits of strength training. I am a strong advocate for women’s strength training in particular, and am driven by my desire to empower women and my aspiration to be a positive role model. I strive to help women feel strong, fit and confident at all stages and all ages. I can educate you to achieve your goals and break the mindset cycle of the need for huge restrictions and extreme amounts of exercise.

I have experience working with clients of all ages, sizes, abilities and lifestyles. Whether you are a complete beginner and have never set foot in a gym before, or have years or experience and have specific fitness goals. Whether you want to lose fat, gain muscle, get strong or improve your performance. Whether you’ve never counted a calorie before or you need support improving your relationship with food. I can help guide you to set and reach your goals, with focus on strength and fitness levels, improved mental well-being and boosting your confidence and self esteem both inside and outside of the gym.

Faye - Fitness Instructor

Faye – Fitness Instructor

Faye has been a Personal Trainer for over ten years. She is also a qualified kettlebell instructor, nutritional therapist and mum to two teenagers. After a career in marketing, she decided to retrain after having children in order to fulfil her passion for health.

Faye’s main interest is long-term health, focusing on food along with strength training to not only improve life span but also health span. Strength training is imperative tor staying active for longer, for regaining and maintaining muscle that we start to lose in our thirties.

Faye is serious about good form, ensuring that you are doing exercises correctly and safely for the best outcomes. She is also a great motivator and brings her energy and passion to every class!

Becky – Pilates Instructor

I have been in the fitness industry for over 20 years and have qualified in many different disciplines ranging from cardiac and cancer rehab to Pilates and fitness yoga. I teach a lot of community based classes as well as in leisure centres.

Movement is life and I enjoy helping people get the best out of theirs!

I run my own successful fitness business and am very much looking forward to delivering Pilates sessions at the BE WELL Barn.

When I’m not training with clients or teaching you can find me walking my rescue dogs in our beautiful Suffolk countryside!

Peter - Beyond Birth Conditioning & Empowered Strength Instructor

Peter – Beyond Birth Conditioning & Empowered Strength Instructor

Meet Peter Dunsmore, a highly experienced Personal Trainer, Level 4 Strength and Conditioning Coach, and Pre-Postpartum Fitness Specialist who has been coaching in the fitness industry for beyond a decade. With over 15,000 hours of personal training experience and counting, he is passionate about his clients and helping them make lasting changes in their lives. Peter believes in engaging, educating, and empowering his clients to understand how their choices for change can become habitual and life-changing.

Alongside his professional fitness career, Peter is a devoted husband, and father to his young son and daughter, balancing his time as a family man. He finds inspiration through their childrens perspectives, seeing the world anew and finding awe and amazement in their achievements.

Peter’s daily habits include conventional weight training, but he also enjoys combining his love for endurance adventure events with amazing locations. He has completed a range of adventure races, marathons, and ultras across the Cornish coastlines, the peaks of the Welsh mountain ranges, and the undulating terrain of the Lakes. Furthermore, he has also navigated self-created ultra-marathons across Norfolk and surrounding counties. Whenever the opportunity for an adventure arises, Peter is sure to be there, fuelled by his passion for health and fitness and striving to reach his and his clients’ greatest potential.
